This Blue Willow Platter by Homer Laughlin is in excellent condition. • No cracks, chips, fading, or discoloration. The backside has some crazing but there is none on the front. • The backstamp on this is hard to read but it appears to say 37 which means it was produced in 1937 Blue and white china has been loved and collected for centuries and Blue Willow is the the most famous, most popular, and most collected china pattern ever produced. It was first produced in the 1790s and was a derivation of an original Chinese pattern called Mandarin. Dozens of companies produce, or have produced, this pattern. The borders on this china can vary but the traditional willow design always features a willow tree (of course) with the famous love birds flying above it and a large beautiful Chinese home, a small bridge with 3 figures, a humble servants house at the foot of the bridge, a graceful fence, and a small Chinese boat with a figure in it. The pattern represents a love story.
